My path to this coalition didn't start in a city council chamber. It started in conversations — the ones I've been having for years through Huynh High, where I talk openly about cannabis, responsibility, and the culture around it; through GWGW Events, where I've watched strangers become community over a shared table; and through Huynh Hungry, where I fell even more in love with the small businesses and local voices that make Elk Grove feel like home.

Along the way, I kept hearing the same thing from neighbors, from people at events, from folks I met through food and through cannabis education alike: Elk Grove doesn't currently allow any regulated storefront retail, so residents either go without or drive to another city to buy from a licensed, tested source. That gap didn't sit right with me.

I'm not asking anyone to agree with me about cannabis. I'm asking Elk Grove to have the conversation — carefully, publicly, and with real safeguards on the table. That's why I started the Elk Grove Cannabis Coalition: to turn kitchen-table conversations into a formal request the city can actually study.
